Milwaukee is known for many things, after all, few cities have as many nicknames as Milwaukee does…”Brew City” “City of Festivals” “Cream City” “The German Athens of America” etc etc. But now, Milwaukee can be known for something else...skydiving! Nothing gives us more pleasure than to announce our service to this amazing area and to celebrate this we would like to tell you more about this incredible city. While a skydive does give you the best view of the skyline from above, there are many places that we would recommend you check out once you’ve landed. Here are a few of our favorites:
Best Bar: Angelo’s Piano Bar is the absolute best to visit in town if you have never been here. Often you will come in to find Angelo, himself, singing classic Sinatra or other vocal swing/jazz right in the middle of the bar. You, as well as the other guests are welcome to sing and will find out that most regulars do, especially old show tunes, to a live pianist.
Best Store: There one department store here that we urge anyone who comes to Milwaukee to see and experience: American Science and Surplus. The almost 100 year old oddity complex sells a wide range of strange and intriguing objects. From post it notes on a stick to make sure everyone sees what you are trying to post to actual rubber coated bottles..this store has everything from the crazy cool to the questionably odd.
Best Sovereign Nation: Yes, you can visit an entirely different nation while in the city. The Kingdom of Talossa was, at first, the creation of a sad little boy who lost his mother in the winter of 1979. Robert Madison made it a point to secede from our nation and declared his bedroom it’s own kingdom, named after the finnish word for “in the house”. Since that time the kingdom has had 3 leaders and has grown to include several miles of reach. While most citizens are spread throughout the world, you can still visit the area in which the kingdome resides.
Best Cigar Bar: In no way do we condone unhealthy behavior...however, there are some of us who enjoy a good cuban while taking in some history and yolo right? Shaker’s Cigar Bar is an old speakeasy previously owned by Al Capone, himself. But don’t go there if you are easily spooked. Some of the past patrons still sometimes pay a visit which is why they also refer to this victorian style bar as “The Haunted Bar of Milwaukee”.
Best Dinner Entertainment: If you are a secret agent, and you don’t have to tell us...cause if you did you would have to kill us...and need a place to “hide out” while enjoying a spy themed atmosphere and many shows and events throughout the night then meet us at The Safe House. **Entry requires passcode, but most locals know what that is, just ask!**
Strange Fact: So, as many residents know there are parts of Milwaukee built on what used to be swamp lands. However, what some don’t know is that there is a lake under the Northwest Mutual Building! Yes, you read that right, a lake. The building is supported by wooden beams that go down into the bottom and if the water levels get to low, there are workers who are responsible to add more water to keep the lake full to continue to support the building lest the beams rot and the entire place collapses. So check it out, you can find this crazy odd place on the corner of Cass and Wisconsin.
